A good site is the U of Nebraska's extension site at
http://www.ianr.unl.edu/pubs/browse.htm - here you can view most
of NU's extension publications on a vast array of topics online.
Makes me proud to be a Nebraskan, even tho I'm a transplant from Iowa.
Looking at UI's extension site, I'd say you'll be much happier with
the NU site.
As far as frost dates go - here in the Omaha metro (Z5a), our last
average frost falls around April 15. Not knowing exactly where
in IL you live, I'd imagine your last frost is maybe a week
earlier at most. Of course, if you're a true Northern gardener, that
won't stop you. I plan on putting out tomatoes in March, under
protective cover.
Everyone chant with me...Wall-O'-Waters, Wall-O'-Waters...
