Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
When I harvest the fruit of all this work, how exactly am I supposed to know
how much of the plant to take? Are there any guidelines? I believe I have
heard that when harvesting apples that you are not supposed to take anything
but the apple. Taking any of the "fruitwood" harms the tree. I've also heard
that if you don't take the stem of okra, they get soggy when pickled or
cooked. I would guess that if you don't take all the fruit you expose the
plant to risk of fungus or disease.
So when do you cut some of the stem and when do you not? Specifically my
snow peas, but are there any "rules of thumb" for harvesting in general?
