The only thing I could add to the informative msgs. of our other members is
that the early native indians grew corn, squash, and beans together for the
plants' mutual benefits. Beans need the corn to grow up; the corn needs the
squash to keep roots shaded and provide shade for predatory beetles to eat
other pests; no idea why the squash needs corn or beans other than that
beans instill nitrogen into soil? Give them a little extra room because they
are heavy feeders.
