If these turn out to be those nasty biting gnats, we've had some luck using
a new product (at least new to me) called SunSquat, by Kiss My Face.
Basically, it's citronella to repel the bugs, plus 15spf sunscreen. I've
been using it on my son at the playground which is heavily wooded. He was
getting bleeding bites on his head, and his pre-school teacher as well as
other parents described these gnats as leaving swellings around the ears.
He had some, and a friend's child had an eye swollen shut from the gnats.
Hats seem pretty effective as well. Hope you're feeling better soon!
