Hi everyone!Just some news from the garden scene at my house.

I traipsed around in the mud today and discovered everything coming to life.
It was wet and icky but I couldn't resist exploring and sticking my hands in
the mud. Some of this is repetition of what I may have said last week. Let a
woman brag a little :P

Bulbs:
Crocuses are blooming, hyacinthes and dafs are budded but not blooming yet,
tulips are poking out and the anemones are unfurling their tiny leaves. I
have got other varieties planted but none are up yet.

Perennials:
Monarda (bee balm), Sedum 'Autumn Joy', Columbine, Daylilies and
mums(several varieties), Speedwell (veronica) and Lamb's Ear all have new
growth. I am a little worried about my Artemesia 'Silver Mound' and the
pervoskia (Russian Sage)(sp?)

Trees and shrubs:
Roses have developed leaf buds, Rhododendron leaves are beginning to open up
and spread, the Hawthorne and Twisted Pine (Pinus strobus) my hubby and I
rescued last year just took on a gorgeous cooper color in their bark as the
sap returns as well as new leaf growth, The forsythias and sand cherries
have buds on them.

The Garden Fairy:
Speaking of Sand cherries, all of them were neatly pruned within the last
week and no one seems to know who did it. (Not that I am complaining. It's
less work I have to do.) None of my neighbors have ever shown interest in my
gardens and my hubby says he hasn't been out there to look at them in
monthes! They are all young plants so they weren't overgrown and they are
clearly within our property lines. So who done it?
I can only come up with some mysterios spectre: The Garden Fairy!

Square Foot Vegetables:
For those of you on the SqFt lists, my sqft garden is being enlarged for
this years veggie crop. Anyone got ideas on rutabaga spacing? I figured 9.
Beets are listed at 12 but that seems a little tight. TIA.

Well thats about it for now. Whats going on in others' gardens?
