I used to buy wooden dowels but they deteriorate in the weather too
quickly. I just bought 4 foot "dowels" from Lowe's. (I'm not sure if
Lowe's is nationwide or not. I'm in central Ohio.) They are green and
seem to be rubber-covered metal of some sort. They were in the garden
section. They have a selection of lengths. I believe they range from 3
foot to 8 foot sizes. I paid $1.19 per for the 4 foot variety. I hope
this information helps.
