Hey everyone. My name is Stephanie and my mother-in-law and I just
bought the book on square foot gardening and are going to give it a try.
Our soil is in poor shape. We dug one 4x4 and got probably a 100 pounds
of huge rocks. The rest of it seems to be in the same condition. Now
we are looking at doing raised beds (4) and some vertical trenches (4).
What is the cheapest, easiest, fastest way to do this?
We live in West Texas--zone 8 or 9 I think-- and are going to plant
tomatoes, squash, snowpeas, cucumbers, okra, corn, luffas, herbs,
flowers, potatoes, and polebeans. Also some lettuce and spinach for
early crops. Thanks for all of the advice on the luffas and the
okra--though I don't remember anyone mentioning how many luffas to a
1x4 trench. I love all of the information everyone shares. This is
wonderful for getting several ideas quickly to a variety of problems and
situations. Thanks again!
