Well, in a 1975 horticulture class at Triton Junior College outside Chicago,
I was taught that if you have an infestation of spider mites and you spray
malathion on them, you have unintentionally given them a chemical boost in
reproduction! These mites are arachnids, not insects, so the toxicant of
choice is kelthane, not malathion.
For heaven's sake, let's not go off on an insecticide thread here. I was
just trying to think of a good old tip.
