If you really mean mulch, as in: lay on top of the soil mulch, then this is
fine. The only problem might come if you wanted to dig it in like folk
sometimes do with compost. I've been using from a couple of loads of chipper
crew stuff that the city was kind enough to drop off for me when they had
done some work on trees that I knew were OK.
The last load was all cedar and maple, very nice stuff and so pleasant to
work with...
But I hear that if you work it in there can be some problems with the decay
bacteria using up the nitrogen in the soil during the decomposition.
