If you're doing a hedge of sunflowers, you'll want to place them relatively
close together, maybe one foot apart or even a bit less? I like to fill in
the spaces by planting a mixture of shorter sunflower varieties just in
front of say Russian Mamoth's to get a layered sunflower garden.
