Re: tom's ind or det now (pollinators) & birds


Hi all,

If you provide a water source for the birds, you'll have a lot less, if
any, pecked tomatoes.  When they peck the fruit they are thirsty and
are going for the moisture mostly.

In addition to birdbaths, I water my two raised bed veggie gardens with
an overhead, back & forth type sprinkler (mounted on a stand).  I know
lots don't recommend this watering method but it works for me and I
also get to watch the many different varities of birds that come to
drink, bath and generally have a great time in the water.  I live in
San Diego, so my neighborhood birds are probably more parched than
those in other parts of the country.
