I put some old fan shaped trellises over the beds. That seems to keep
the dog and cats out. The toddler I don't know - I don't have one of
those. I have also used pruned branches (from my roses and bouganvilla
- nice and thorny), a regular painting tarp and floating row cover to
keep the pooping cats out. You could also just use chicken wire or even
that cheap plastic fencing. Stepping on it annoys their paws and so
they stay out.
