No no, don't do it! You should take the withered vines and leaves of any plant that was infected with a fungus, put it in a trash bag and throw it away. Only disease free plants should go into a compost pile unless you are one of those amazing people who manages a very HOT compost pile that will kill the bacteria. I think it has to be something like 115 degrees in the middle to do this, but feel free to correct me if anybody knows otherwise. Melissa in MA whose squash vines all have powdery mildew too
