Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Well, we've had a couple of Santa Anas lately, the hot dry wind off the
desert, so it's been really stunning weather. Getting chilly at night -- we
might even have -- GASP -- a FROST before Christmas. I believe the master
gardener told me we're in zone 24, but that might be sunset garden zones vice
USDA. At about 1300' outside of San Diego.
I love the cocoa mulch -- too wonderful to spread it around, smelling that
sweet chocolate scent! Between that, blood meal, and Sluggo (tm), I've
reduced my pest problems enormously. The Blood meal really does work well to
keep rodent away -- or, at least I haven't seen any signs of damage despite a
couple of raunchy spots in the fencing.
So -- I just froze another three pounds of tomatoes yesterday. the corn is
in a race with potential frost dates, but it looks so lovely growing...
Still no sign of the carrots and beans producing, but the watermelon is still
flowering along with the tomatoes. I finally executed the cucumbers.
