I'm new to the list, so forgive me if this is a recurring topic.
The most efficient raised bed pattern I've seen was a community garden
that utilized a herringbone shape. Sort of staggering small beds in a V
shape. The did this because the beds can be covered for frost
protection with a minimum of problems. They also discovered that people
are more apt to completely weed out several small 'interesting shaped'
beds vs one long one.
