Re: slug problem?

New gardener here, so I'm offering info, not experience.  I just picked up 
some copper tape for my two new boxes for fall/winter.  About $7.50 for 15 
feet, around an inch wide.  The gardener down at Armstrongs swears snails 
won't climb over it, and since slugs are slimey like snails, perhaps???
I checked into diatomaceous earth, too.  No longer sold in California for 
anything except pool filters.  People were misusing inside houses, breathing 
it.
