Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
First, thanks to all for your comments, including Teres.
Teres, your experience (combined with my more recent experience) really
renewed my faith in Melsoil. And I'm currently busy preparing some
strawberry beds. Such a joy to know that other than keeping square foot beds
fed with good compost and mulched (and watered during a drought whether
they're planted or not, I now know -- or better yet planted!!), the soil
will never have to be *prepared* again. I LIKE that. A lot.
The update to my experience? We had a tiny bit of soft, gentle rain last
week and it did WONDERS for the watering problem I was moaning about,
especially having the mulch down, which both helped capture the rain and
keep the soil moist after. It helped tremendously. And in the last 24 hours
we had another whole inch. Let's see now, that probably means we're only 10+
inches down for the year. :-(
Anyway, full speed ahead.
