Re: Iris graminea seeds question

Did you get the seeds from SIGNA seed sale?
As seed sale chairman, I want to know about any seeds that aren't what they are supposed to be.
It seems that someone said some seeds had arils which chouldn't have had arils last year.  I don't remember what they were supposed to have been, nor have I heard what they turned out to be.
We don't want iris being mis-identified, and want to clear up any that are.

Sigh. I will be in for a surprise. The seeds had a white aril or collar. Oh well, I like a challenge.
Thank you

Thanks.  I had to select "Show remote content in this message" and then the picture appeared.  Duh.

It's embedded in the email rather than attached. It's some problem at your end. You can see the photos on the SIGNA web site: http://signa.org/index.pl? Display+Iris-graminea+2

For future reference there are photos of the seeds of many of the iris species in the species database on the website: http://signa.org/index.pl? Database

I did not find the photo attached.  Did anyone else find it?   Betty G.

Attached is a photo of I. graminea seed that is normal.  There are a couple of variations, but I do not believe either have arils.

I ordered seeds of the "plum scented Spuria" Iris graminea. Normally I open and inspect the package, but I put
it aside until I was ready to plant. All 5 seeds in ther package had white Arils, that is, a ring or collar at one end of the seed.
Surely I. graminea is a Spuria, and not an Aril, or arilbred? Or is this the normal appearance of this species' seeds?
Hope someone can help, I have a feeling I am going to be in for a surprise when they bloom.
