Re: Re: Pseudacorous seeds was Late additions to the seed exchange

Dennis, El,

if it ain't nailed down, someone will take it!  As I have tons of unworthy seedlings from my Hemerocallis hybridizing and I had previously donated them to a guerilla greening project in the city.  Well, after getting lots of attention in the papers for their good work, most of the plants were stolen!  Some of these plants were real crap, too!  There is an element in all societies that just plain and simply likes to steal.  Most of these people later go into politics.  :-(

Jaime, I attempted to beautify a local artificially restored wetlands park by planting some virginica var. shrevei and some mixed Louisiana cultivars along the pond edges.  When bloom season came all the gloriously colored Louisianas got dug up (stolen) by park visitors but the less flamboyant species are still there and thriving and spreading.  In another park pond I did the same with versicolor and planted them amongst the Acorus and Typhia so that people would be less likely to steal them.  They're doing great!  I go back every spring and see them in bloom.  I tried a planting of brevicaulis but they got severely trampled by fishermen and kids stomping along the pond edge.
