Re: Spuria?

I sent this same picture to my friend, and she tells me that is from an old lady who has since died.  It's from a totally different area and she doesn't know any of it's history.  Somehow, when she dug me the original white, some of this other one got mixed in by mistake.  Lucky me.  :)

I've got that stem with the lavender strip marked, so that rhizome for sure will have to be carefully removed from the original unknown spuria clump.

I think I need a nap now.  2 different and lovely spuria in the same day.

How many times have we heard "never assume".  When I saw the 3rd of 3 bloom stalks open from afar the other day, I assumed it was the same as the 1st spuria picture I took, and the 2nd stalk as well.  From afar, it does look like it.

I was assessing this latest rain and wind storm damage a few minutes ago, and went over to stake a bearded iris that had fallen over.  While I was there, I picked up the 3rd stem to flower, as it was already bent over from that creature that ran through the entire clump.

I'm sure my jaw dropped when I saw the faint colour on this one.  The flower is almost finished, but I'll try for a better picture when the next bud opens.
