I planted out my bearded seeds 3 weeks ago, after 8 weeks in the fridge, in damp spagnum. Some were shooting when I planted them, and I was getting a bit worried about them, as it's been fairly hot dry and I've been away a bit. But I went out to check this morning and the first plants had popped up, mostly dwarfs so far. Should have plenty of time to pick them out over winter
I've been dowm to Melbourne for the international Flower Show. 8 hour drive each way, plus breaks. Left at 7am Friday got to Melb at 4pm, had a look at the show. Stayed with friend and drove back yesterday(Sat). Found the most fantastic heavy duty trowel. We wear out trowels for digging plants in much less than a year, so will give the 5 year warrenty on these new German ones a real working over. Over 100 exhibitors in the trade section with Tempo Two being the only seller of irises and daylilies. Lots of the bulb growers were clearing excess stocks. Most had forced their tulips, hyacinths etc. So there was a lovely smell of spring on a beautiful autumn day. Some nice floral exhibits and many over the top as well.
