CULT: Rhizome scent

I just came across this note about Iris gatesii, in
The Gardener's Iris Book by William Shear:

"Like most Oncos, this species grows from small, hard,
knobby, red rhizomes with a curiously pleasing
fragrance."

This reminded me about Neil Mogensen's mention of
'Pink Ruffles' having scented rhizomes. I never did
find a 'Pink ruffles' to check the scent out. But
after reading about Iris gatesii, I'm wondering how
many others might have scented rhizomes.

I used to grow 'Florentina' because it was supposed to
be used for orrisroot production [for perfumery]. The
dried roots are supposed to gradually develop a scent.
I still have dried roots of it [at least 10 years old]
that have never developed any scent that I can detect.

So, has anyone noticed any other irises that have
scented rhizomes?
