Thanks Bill for the recommendations.  I thought that Cygon had been taken off the market but maybe it is still available.  I know that Merit has been recommended for borer control.  

I am not out to kill off everything in the yard and don't like using chemicals but the amount of damage the last two years is forcing me to look for some solution.

I use nylon hose to bag  the LA crosses but still find that some of the seed pods are damaged by the Verbena Bud Moth.  There was a good article on Verbena Bud Moth control but unfortunately I don't remember where I read it.  If anyone does and can direct me to it I would appreciate reading it again.

The Orthochaeta or Iris Bud Fly does extensive damage.  It is frustrating to see blooms open with almost no interior part left untouched.  

If anyone else has any other solutions I would be glad to hear them.
