i was astonished to read in the World of Iris that fragrance is a trait that
iris breeders tried hard to eliminate. changing tastes. also, there is a
big range of scent detection amongst humans. i have a friend who is a heavy
smoker (which ought to kill here scent detectors!) who can't stand to have
iris in the house because they are so intensely fragrant, and not a pleasant
fragrance, when i can barely detect fragrance in most of them. so, i really
can't notice much fragrance in very many of my iris. there is one that
smells to me like old tom cat urine - which may be why they tried to get rid
of scents!

i saw the bulletin ad for the xeroxed report and called them about it. it
was going to cost about $50 (that's fifty) so i decided i could live without
it. it would be really nice to be able to get that in electronic form.
