Iris & Hummingbirds

I've seen hummingbirds attack iris so vigorously that there wasn't enough left
of the flower to be sure what variety it was (they zero in on the relatively
juicy style arms). And they DID set "bird pods" -- as opposed to "bee pods".

I suspect, however, that it's more a matter of desperation than preference.
