Chuck, could you please define what you mean by 'except where soil is wet'.
I live
in Manitoba, in the Red River Region and have what is fondly called 'Red
River Gumbo'.
I amend the soil, and in some cases even replace the soil, but with the winter
snow melt and the Spring Rains it can become very wet. I have been planting
them
a little deeper as per instructions in your book, and did not have any
noticeable
rot this year with the exception of a couple, but I have to admit that it
goes against all that I have been taught to plant the backs so deep. If you
could
expand upon this just a little more please, I would appreciate it. Perhaps a
description of how the rhizome should be sitting once it is in the ground and
what we should see 'after' it is planted? It might help take away some of the
nerves I feel when I am planting them. Because quite honestly I feel like I
am burying them not planting them now.
Thanks
Jennifer Bishop (who awaits her order from Chuck with anticipation)
