Well stated, Donald!!  What was your local society's membership package like??
Are folks able to join just the local society??

What is your locale/region??  What else does your local society do during the
year??? Who have you had as speakers?? do you have judges' training on a
regular, or semi-regular basis??  What's your favorite activity??
Do you have pot luck dinners to get to know other folks, inother words,
how much emphasis on the social stuff does your group have??
