So will frost damage newly planted rhizomes? When planting my 3 leafed
seedlings, I sought advice re frost damage, and was told that this would
not harm them. Obviously wrong, as my losses were very high indeed.
(around 2/3 of my seedlings died).
My impression was that the roots froze, then turned to mush and rotted.
Those that didn't die are now starting to show signs of growth. I guess
the weaklings have been well and truly culled.
Jan Clark, in Australia, where spring growth has definitely started, and
the daffodils are flowering.
