Neil, 

If 7 degrees F is shockingly cold to your Zone 7 self :-), I
have to tell you that it was below zero F three times  in the
past week here in the  Northern mountains. I think it was -4 on
Friday and -1 yesterday. Very windy so the windchill made it
seem much colder. We are not complaining since we have had an
exceedingly mild Fall and the snow cover is in place until
April.
