The glaciata is a plicata. The pl-a (glaciata gene) is one of the alleles of plicata. The glaciata gene is recessive so if we see a glaciata we know for certain that there is no regular plicata genes (pl) or luminata (pl-lu) genes present as if they were the flower would be plicata or zonal and not a glaciata.
The cross with Rosemary's Dream will produce at least half plicatas. All plicatas if both genes of RD are pl (regular plicata)
'Kupari' X suaveolens rubromarginata F2 of sibling to sibling should produce 1/4 glaciatas and no regular plicatas as if a plicata gene was prescent in suaveolens rubomarginata then you would have gotten plicatas in F1.

Dave,
I'm curious about that too; I plan to interbreed the
F1 from 'Kupari' X suaveolens rubromarginata, to see
if any plicata might surface. All of the F1 from that
cross are purple bitone or amoena. I've also got some
kapari' X 'Rosemary's Dream'(plicata) seedlings that
might bloom for the first time this spring. It'll be
interesting to see if any of these will be plicata.

Unfortunately, if I do they are not very good quality
and I'm not sure where they might be. Also,
unfortunately, as much as I used 'Kupari' for
hybridizing I didn't take enough care of it. I'm
pretty sure I've lost it now. From my memory, I would
say it was a smaller flower than other pallida's I've
grown. Although the plant was just as large. The
flowers seemed kind of crinkled, but I'm not sure if
it was always that way. I have no other reason to
think this, but I suspect it may have picked up a
virus or something. I do have hybrids of 'Kupari' with
Iris cengialtii (pallida spp. cengialtii) also and
speaking of white pallida's, maybe from these I can
get a white F2 of my own.
Enjoying the discussion,
Tom
