Kathy, yesterday I received catalogs from Nicholl's Gardens (Virginia) &
Quail Hill Gardens (South Carolina).
I have bought from Nicholl's every year for the past 3 years, and couldn't
be happier. They're the ones that got me started on arilbreds, and I
noticed that their arilbred selection has almost doubled in size since last
year. They also have quite a lot of beardless irises too (LAs, SIBs, JIs,
SPECs, etc).
This is my first ever catalog from Quail Hill and I'm just thrilled with
it. They have dozens of Spurias and Louisianas for just $4 each. I've
never tried Spurias yet, but at these prices I'm willing to try them out.
I'll probably pick 5 or 6 just to see how they fare here in Cincinnati. I
also like the description for Iris versicolor JOHN WOOD and added that on
my wish-list.
Last week I got my first iris catalog of the year from Joe Pye Weed Gardens
(Massachusettes) and already sent in my order. I like them because they do
spring shipments. I also have an order pending for some Louisiana irises
from Iris Haven (Australia). A bunch of us are placing a group order to
minimize shipping & customs fees. Those will also arrive this spring.
I have been so impressed with the performance of my Arilbreds & Louisianas
that that's what I'm buying more of this year. And I'm already off to a
good start!
