Gerry, I think I'd concentrate on the period 1956-59 since this event was
mentioned on page 35 of the Golden Anniversary Issue of the AIS Bulletin by
Marion Walker, President of AIS 1953-59, who said it happening on his watch.
Contextually it looks like circa 1957 would be a likely date to me. "During
this time the Board took official action on accepting the invitation to
assume the responsibility of acting as the International Registration
Authority for all irises, exept bulbous, throughout the world."
