Well, there are experts on the list for both PCs and Macs. So I will
take the Mac side.
Macs continue to be a little more expensive than PCs but the gap is lessening.
Macs continue to be easier to use and less troublesome than PCs. I work
on both. I have 30 years in the computer industry. They take less effort
to manage and install. Anyone who tells you differently doesn't have
enough experience.
However, probably the most important criteria *for you* is: "of the
people that you can call upon for help, are they Mac or PC capable?" The
range of software programs available for each is not an issue for you.
All the programs you need are available on both types of systems.
If you want a reference on a new user using a Mac, call Nancy
Pocklington. But getting her online took some tutoring from me. If you
know a Mac person that can help you, a Mac is definitely the way to go.
If the people that can help you are all PC folk, then the choice is PCs.
