Are you in the foothills or ?

Hi Linda,
Since we are in a similar zone, I would like to hear about your successes. What
type of cultivars have you had success with? I really would like to get quite a
few for our backyard, as we have just had some landscaping done and I know Iris
would look absolutely wonderful back there. I only have two or three varieties
and have no idea what they are, but they are doing absolutely magnificent.
Everyone in the neighborhood stops and asks about them. As mentioned
previously, the one type is from my husband's old homestead farm in MS. His
great, great grandmother use to grow and sell flowers iris, daffodils from the
farm so who knows what they are. I will have to take pictures and post them so
someone can tell me. The others are from a local nursery on sale - no idea what
they are. Again, I will post pictures shortly and someone can help me identify
what they are. Hopefully I have close-ups :o)
Soil, Soil? What soil? Is clay considered soil? I have the lovely Georgia
clay soil, but the good thing is, that since we just had 34 pine trees removed
from the area where I plan to plant the iris, it is actually pretty good soil
due to the wonderful natural mulch that has fallen and decayed over the years.
So the clay may still be there but it is really deep deep down - thank god!
Again, please let me know your successful plantings. Are your iris pictures
posted on iris-photos. Someone mentioned this place to post pictures and I have
no idea how to get there. Any ideas?
Pat
