Patricia, I don't think these procedures for germination or contradictions. They
are just different approaches to the same goal.
Different procedures work in different climates. And some avoid
climate altogether and germinate exclusively in the refrigerator!
The natural (outdoors) way works best for me. Some wouldn't consider
that but prefer their 'lab' and fridge. To each his own.
