Dale, I'm with you! I have used electric fencing and "electro-net" for
sheep, goats, horses and around my gardens. Only once did a young dog hit
it. . .and the definitive word here is ONCE! And like you, I have backed
into it too! I know there are horror stories about electric fences, but I've
always used the proper type and have never suffered any losses of lives,
heart attacks or strokes with an animal.
A neighbor had four cows killed by lightening when they were standing
too close to a barbed wire fence. . now THAT'S a hot fence.
