Mike, "people who let cats run loose don't hate them nor do they hope they
might get hit by a car or truck or attacked by a dog or bigger cat". . it's
that they put no value on a cat as a wonderful, living creature - they
simply haven't reach that level of growth, maturity and understanding that
enables them to embrace cats and dogs as companions to be cared for and
loved. Education and culture play a BIG role in how people feel towards
domesticated animals too. My ex husband came from a farming family. . runt
pigs were brought in and kept warm but no dogs were allowed in the house -
that is until Doris came on the scene and then both Shelties and cat were
house pets despite the muttering and snide remarks!
As long as people look upon cats and dogs as throw-aways, the shelters
will be filled with them. And they will continue to be euthanized by the
thousands across the country until people recognize the importance of having
both sexes altered. Until we, as a civilized culture, are able to teach and
show by example, the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a
part, cats and dogs will have little value.

one will shoot them or poison them. If they don't think this way why do they
expose them to such dangers?

pay for it if you can prove it. Her you are not allowed to let dogs run
loose but cats can. They don't have to have a license either. I have had cat
problems but they are at a low population. Quite a few have been killed by
cars.
