Walter this is sad news to me! I unfortunately planted one of these in my JI
bed. It has taken over one third of my bed and I am now determined to get it
all out of there. So now I guess that means digging everything up that I
want to keep and roundup what is left in the bed? Bob and I have been so
upset each year to see more and more of this yellow in our bed. We will
probably never purchase a yellow Japanese Iris due to our experience with
this thing. It shoud be labeled INVASIVE to say the least. Loosestrife is
nothing compared to this! Wish I had read your post before I planted it in
my garden. It is sold around here as I pseudacorus, Giant Water Iris, and
the Holden Clough. What ever its called it is a monster! The only way it
should be grown is in a tub and then it will crawl out of that if now kept
after.

Donna, not all pseudacorus are invasive. The ivories, whites, and
pale yellows have been rather tame. And, my seedling from the
invasive yellow type is tame. Anner Whitehead sent me a couple that
proved to be moderate growers.
ROY DAVIDSON was also left in my former residence for the new owners
to enjoy. That thing was spreading and coming up everywhere.
No more robustas for me either, and JOHN WOOD will have to go too.
I tried digging him, but it was just too much, so I sprayed Roundup
on about half of the clump to thin it out. JW has since recovered and
is even bigger than before he got the spray treatment.
