I am a garden judge, and a member of AIS. I should have the right to vote.

If you really believe in regional distinction, then a comperision (sic)
is of little value to anyone. If you want irises that grow anywhere
(which is what the Dykes and AIS award system is supposed to present)
then the Symposium as it stands servers that purpose better. I am not
saying the current awards system os perfect in its execution.

We already have a problem of people voting from catalogs. I think that
it might be just as bad with write-ins

I agree

We have one - the current symposium chair. No sense in having both ballots.

That could easily result in multiple votes by the same individual. In
Region 14 at least the Bulletin goes out to all AIS members (in the
region) as a matter of policy, so sending the ballot out in the regional
bulletin would be a duplication.

You would need to have a clean easy way to prevent duplicate balloting,
and no, it is not a simple matter.

IMO a write in ballot from every member of AIS would not change this
much because so many people know of the large suppliers. Even within a
region, many AIS members are not aware of their local hybridizers.

Doing what is right is, in many cases, more difficult.

Unsubstantiated and inflammatory.
