I read today in The World of Irises that I. Pallida Argentea is rare. Of course, at the time the book was written in 1975, it might have been. But is it now?
I am curious to see if anyone on Iris Talk grows this iris. I have been growing it now in my garden for the last two years. Last year in spring it bloomed, and last fall had only little dinky rhizomes which I separated and replanted a few months later in a separate area that gets more sun. All six increases survived and are growing nicely, except they did not bloom this past spring of course.
Actually, the tag that came with it called this rhizome Iris Pallida Argentea Variegata, but I think whether or not it has the variegata part on the name or not does not matter, for they are both the same white and green leafed plant, right? Does anyone know? I have not found out much about this species.
I know Iris Pallida is called Zebra, so would this also be called Zebra, or not?
