Linda; I think you are on track. I cleaned up the stalks and dead
leaves 2 weeks ago. There were many where the stalk had started to
rot and then, with absence of rain, dried out. I wound up with only
six pods (1/3 of crosses). Not a big business, just Pop because Mom's
not interested. I had two pod stalks rot at bottom. I cut stalk where
it was still green. Took in the house and have them sitting in water,
which I flush with fresh water every night.
The rain pattern has been weird. Feast or famine. I figure it's the
deluge that starts the rot and the dry spell dries it out. One bed
had bad leaf spot rot.
