for me here in hot southern Arizona. I could make quite a list of
irises I have lost or am in danger of losing to it. There are a half
dozen in my guest garden that are in serious danger. I am nowhere
near figuring out the cause or the prevention.

green fans. This ideally should be 50%. That is as many blooming as
nonblooming fans. When more then 75% of fans are bloomstalks then the

--- There was at least one good thread re bloomout, last year and the
info should be in the archives. Various thought on dealing with it.

I still think some of the problem is with the hybridizer who fails to
note the problem of ratio of flower stalks to green fans. The idea of
having many and sequential blomstalks is very attractive, but the
hybridizer should make sure the plant puts out as many non bloomin
fans (increases) as flower stalks.

I have a number of new plants this year that are putting out 3 or 4
flower stalks from single rhizome with only one or two increases for
next years plants. These were all on big fat healthy rhizomes that
came from a warmer climate. I'm hoping they will settle down and
behave better next year.
