Hmm...Linda, do you have it growing exclusively in the gravel soil you have
described so often? I have to divide DC every year in order to
make room for the bloomstalks so they have adequate space
to strut their stuff with three gigantic flowers open. ( I have
found that SILVERADO needs the same treatment.) These
are the only irises I MUST divide every year for proper bloom.

Growing rhizomes on sharply elevated ridges can result in long,
sometimes bushy root systems. At Rocky Top, Phil Williams
plants this way and the root systems on his plants always
extend to China. Melrose Gardens did the same thing.
