Spring has arrived in California! Okay, I've had some winter bloom (quite a
lot from Stingray); but the first stalk of the spring bloom opened Monday.
Epicenter opened, the first of about 40 stalks. Right next to it is Rock
Star with another 40 on the way (and 2 fading, it is a rebloomer). Pagan
Pink and an improved Success Story seedling of mine each have a dozen or
more stalks on the way. Others I remember spotting are Chosen One,
Decipher, Select Circle, Double Dribble, Persian Berry, Jurassic Park,
Valentines Day, Plum Wine (SDB), Reincarnation, Busy Butterfly, Cloud
Ballet, Skipalong, Paprika Fonos, Best Bet, a mystery dark bitone that
definitely isn't Mesmerizer, and lots of precious seedlings (I'm praying for
miracles, and not the usual "birth defects"). Except that I'd never want to
attach my name to it, I'd love to introduce an iris named "Compost". I've
had some candidates.
