A most apt Subject Line!
I don't speak with Dave's level of confidence, but it could well be the faux
LADY MOHR that was in distribution back in the '70s and '80s. The real one
does have more aril traits than quarterbreds characteristic of its era, but
the imposter had the form more typical of halfbreds.
Initially, its unexpected fertility made us suspect that we were dealing with
an imposter. Detailed comparision against the photo in Mitchell's book
revealed subtle differences. Finally, getting another rhizome of LADY MOHR
from a different source allowed comparison under the same growing conditions
and further fertility tests.
Didn't expect an easy answer from me, did you?
