Hi, my name is Carol and I have been growing Iris for about 12 years. I have
two children, two cats, one dog, and a significant other named Nick.
I have been trying to get a club started here, but find I must do
everything. I am not complaining, but help is apretiated! My worst problem
is getting people to meetings! I have now come down to bribes. Iris from my
freind Doug Murrays garden, and iris from a donar garden that I won't name
here on the list at this time! Wouldn't want to have them flooded with
requests! You know who you are!
I love all Iris, but am particular to beardless, although every time I say
that I think of my beautiful TB's! We have very wet springs here usually,
and last year rot set in at an unpressedented rate. I lost a great many, but
managed to save peices of quite a few. I'm not sure what our anual rainfall
is but it must be above 30 inches.
Setosas love moist feet, and produce tons of seed here. They grow in boggy
conditions in their native areas. I hade a rather different one last year,
white with streaks of blue, Doug sent some to signa, so perhaps some of you
have some. A month in the fridge is about all that is nessesary for
germinating. Easy to grow.
On Dietes, don't cut the flower stalks from each year as they will flower
for several years on the same stem! This was in a large perenial book gotten
from the library. It is tender here and must be brought in.
I have been enjoying looking in and have picked up very interesting info
here, won't be contributing much at present time, have been very busy lately
with new job at a nursury, owwww didn't know those muscles existed anymore.
