There was research done over here on the tendency of some beardeds to produce
extra flower "bits". It seems not to be stable in most cases, but in my
experience is more common in some varieties. The ancient SDB BLUE POOLS
always produces malformed flowers on at least one clump in ten. We reckon it
may be the result of late frost damage, causing the stem to repair itself too
well.
Anyone else got a theory?
