Perhaps even more boorish than carelessly denigrating another's work or preferences would be encouraging others to behave similarly but intentionally. Some individuals, offering their preferences even without invitation, can do so kindly and gently. Others fail. Supremely confident of their superior perception, they try to couch hostility in feigned politeness, but inevitably reveal their hypocrisy to the observant.

And good for you, I say. I don't care for lace at all.....weird ciliated edge like some unwholesome growth...even less attractive on those hairy tulips, I think. Yet, there is always that novelty factor which so mesmerizes some and I suppose in time an iris will show up with fringe so long it wafts about in the breeze.
Now, the daylily folks have got some *really* unwholesome looking growths going, gilding I believe they are denominating it, and they are cultivating very random looking petaloids, too, if one can believe what one sees in the recent books. I don't care for those, either. I've always liked the simpler unruffled daylilies, along with the spiders and extra tall ones, of course. Seems to suit better a blossom that is so fugitive.
Encourage her to breed her own, Betty, then you can visit her and comment kindly on what all hers lack. Cordially,
