Re: TB & MED: bloom report
From: "Mark, Maureen" <MARKM@tc.gc.ca>
Hi Jeff,
We're ahead of you this year. Almost two weeks of 80 degree weather has
brought on an early and condensed season. We have SDBs, IBs and TBs
blooming together. New blooms this morning on TBs were PROSPEROUS VOYAGE
(bright yellow self), NORTHWARD HO (pink plicata) and ROYAL CANADIAN (old
purple self). The IB stalks are opening all at once in the clump instead of
sequentially, so where there were bloom stalks one day, the next morning is
a sea of colour. In bloom are APOLLO'S TOUCH (yellow amoena), CRANAPPLE
(gorgeous red self), HONEY GLAZED (caramel amoena), CARRIWITCHED (purple
plicata), BIT OF CHOCOLATE (brown self), POTLUCK (burgundy plicata) and
WILLOWWARE (blue amoena). MTBs in bloom are APRICOT DROPS (I like it better
every year I see it), BANGLES (still a favourite). Every day, four or five
varieties burst into bloom. It's going too fast for my record-keeping.
The cold front just came in so there might be chance that something will be
left for the show in three weeks.
