I would like to recommend two new to me pinks and one new to me pink amoena
that I particularly liked this year. The first is by Ben Hager and is one
of his lesser known pinks. It is from 1990 and is called In Person. I have
several of Ben's pinks, and this one really stands out in the crowd. Its
stalk was tall, straight and well branched. The flowers were diamond
dusted, with some slight lace. It was just a one year clump, but was
impressive for its form in a very windy, rainy season. Next, I loved the
sugar pink Vern Wood's TB, Pink Starlit, how perfectly named! Light
stardusted true pink with lace and beautiful stalks, branching and
flowers...if only it rebloomed! I have complained about this to my
daughter, Stephanie, and she says she will see what she can do! Next is the
Dave Niswonger TB, Tranquil Beauty, also very aptly named. It is a true
pink, not champagne, amoena. Blooming here on shorter stalks, great
branching, truly beautiful ruffled flowers, we loved it. Wonderful clump, 2
years. Planted in the same bed with Dave's beloved Champagne Elegance and
Pumpkin Cheesecake, also Apricot Frosty, it still stood out for its true
pinkness as well as other great qualitities.
